Disneyland Grand Californian Hotel Wedding: Katelyn + Geoff

When Katelyn was five and her family was vacationing at the Disneyland Hotel, she saw a wedding there and told her mother that some day she would get married at Disneyland too. On December 8, 2011, Katelyn’s dream came true as she married her best friend, Geoff, in a ceremony at the Grand Californian Hotel at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim.

Katelyn planned a surprise “first look” for Geoff to see her before the ceremony. We met him in the Brisa Courtyard in the hotel at the set time, supposedly (so that he wouldn’t catch on to Katelyn’s surprise) to take some photos of him.  I had him stand in one place with his back to where Katelyn would surprise him as we waited and waited and waited for her to arrive. Geoff must have been wondering what my problem was, taking the same photo of him over and over and over. Hee hee.:)

Finally Katelyn showed up! She was beaming and so was Geoff when he saw her. She told me that a little girl in the lobby thought she was a princess when she came through. And she was.:)

Katelyn’s connection to Disneyland is multigenerational. Her mother, Lynn, was at Disneyland on its opening day in 1955 and sat on Walt Disney’s lap that day! How cool is that? I love this photo of Lynn walking Katelyn down the aisle.

Katelyn is absolutely beaming as she sees Geoff waiting for her.

The kiss.:)

Katelyn and Geoff had a very cute surprise dance worked out to the song, Moving Right Along from The Muppet Movie, which they did at the end of the ceremony. I love the look on the officiant’s face!

The wedding theme was the movie, Up, so the colors were the bright primary and secondary colors from the movie. Gorgeous.:)

The reception was held in the Wisteria Room of the Grand Californian Hotel. Here you can see some examples of how Katelyn and Geoff incorporated their theme from the movie, Up, into the reception decorations with the bright colors, balloons, Adventure Book, and mailbox.

Mouse ears for everybody as placeholders!! Brilliant!

First dance in bride and groom mouse ears.:)

After the reception, Katelyn and Geoff met me back in the park for a photo shoot. The teacup picture was number one on the list, but we got a few others as well.

In keeping with the Up theme, a balloon vendor let them hold onto some balloons for a photo.

… and they lived happily ever after.
